Obituary of Barbara Dewar

Barbara Jean Dewar, 79, of Crestwood Village II, Whiting, passed away in the presence of her family, Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Newton Medical Center in Newton, NJ. Born in Livingston, she lived in Old Bridge and Irvington before moving to Whiting in 1994. Barbara was a secretary for Bell Atlantic, Newark for 25 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Ceramics Club of Village II, and a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Whiting. She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas John Dewar in 1971. She is survived by two daughters, Carol Sastre and her companion, Frank of Hamilton Twp and Marilyn Geiger and her husband, Steve of Sparta; one sister, Dolores Andrews of Whiting; four grandchildren, Lisa Gluck of Massachusetts, Marcelo Sastre of Hamilton, Ethan and Jordan Geiger of Sparta and nieces, Kathy Reddy and her husband, Jim, Patricia Versprill, Joy and Robin Andrews. A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 11 at Christ Lutheran Church, 40 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton Twp., NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Popcorn Park Zoo, Humane Way, Forked River, NJ 08731 or Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 136 Mountain View Blvd., Basking Ridge, NJ 07920. Arrangements are under the direction of Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, Whiting.
