Obituary of Helen J. Zalewski

Helen J. Zalewski, 90, of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015. She grew up and raised her family in Kearny. Helen was employed by West Hudson Hospital in Kearny, retiring in 1989. She was an active member of St. Cecilia Church in Kearny for many years. She helped to implement and was the vice-principal of the CCD program at the church. She enjoyed her bus trips to Atlantic City, but her greatest enjoyment was the time she spent with her family, which she was very proud of. Upon moving to Whiting, she was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and a member of the church’s Adoration Group. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Charles. She is survived by her children, Janet Reid, Nancy Anderson, Susan Hogan and husband, John, Charles Zalewski and wife, Ellen and Laura Watson and husband, John and grandchildren, Salvatore, Matthew, Alyssa, Sarah, Krista and Michael. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Monday, July 20th at 10:45 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 30 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
