Obituary of Kenneth Shipman
Kenneth R. Shipman, 88, of Whiting, NJ passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011 at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home in Edison, NJ. Born in Jersey City, he lived there most of his life, moving to Whiting in 1987. He was a dedicated employee of Keuffel and Esser for 28 years followed by employment at the U.S. Post Office in Secaucus for 15 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 502, Whiting; the VFW, Post 8745, Whiting; and the Residents' Club & Fishing Club both of Village VI. He was a member of the Christ Evangelical Church, Whiting and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII & Korean War.
Predeceased by his sister, Grace Burke in 1988, and his daughter Christia Graves in 1997, he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Paula Shipman; two daughters & sons-in-law, Linda & John Fordyce of Vineland and Dorothe & Robert Crupi of Edison; one brother, Russell Shipman of Myrtle Beach, SC; Seven Grandchildren, and Ten Great-Grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, June 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. from the Crestwood Evangelical Church, 300 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting with interment to follow in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Memorial Contributions to your local chapter of the Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated.
