Obituary of Grace Lang
Grace V. Barr Lang was aptly named when she was born in Brooklyn, NY on Easter Sunday, March 31, 1918; she was full of grace spiritually and graceful in the way she lived her life. Grace resided for many years in Brick Town, Toms River and Whiting, and at the time of her death she was living at the Rose Garden Nursing Home in Toms River where she received wonderful, compassionate care.
As an only child Grace dreamed of being part of a large family. She brought this dream to life with her loving husband, Herbert Marston Lang, who predeceased her in 1989, and with their guidance their children learned the blessings of family life. She is survived by her adoring children Ginger Vela, Herbert M. Jr. and Helen, Myra and John Adams, Marygrace and Joseph Petillo, Nancy and Roger Jasaitis, Cindy and Jon Tellekamp and Bobbea Fina. She also deeply loved her 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren to whom Grace was more than Grandma/Gram/ Mema. To all of us she was a source of strength and a place to go when the soul needed to be refueled. It was comforting to be in her company where it was easy to share one's deepest hopes, dreams, expectations and disappointments. She offered each person a love that was specially designed for them; she understood the individual nature of each of her family members and had a unique gift that made every person feel that they were the "favorite". Time spent in her company was always time well spent, and even on the darkest days Grace found a way to put suffering hearts at ease and bring peace to those in distress. Forgiveness was one of the cornerstones of her life, and because of it she received back tenfold the love that she offered so unconditionally.
Grace loved to sing and dance and this passion is tightly woven into the fabric of the family. Family gatherings are filled with laughter, and time together seems to move too swiftly yet stand still at the same time. We are all grateful to have been part of Grace's dream; it made our reality so wonderful.
