Obituary of George H. Zur Heide
George Zur Heide, 91, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2021 with his loving family by his side, at Christiana Care Hospital, Newark, Delaware after a long illness. George was born March 27, 1930 in Secaucus, NJ and resided there most of his life. He relocated to Whiting, NJ after his retirement.
George worked for Mason Dixon Lines for many years and for the US Post Office. George proudly served as a Secaucus Volunteer Fireman for over 40 years. He was a kind and giving man, always ready to help as well as enjoy good times with his family, friends and his community. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
George was predeceased by his parents Meta and William Zur Heide, his sister Lois Dietrich and his grandson Matthew Henkel. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret ZurHeide (nee Farley); his devoted children Kathryn and husband James Morbit, Mary Ellen and husband Martin Craig, Helene and husband Henry Henkel; cherished grandchildren Tara and husband Walter Cross, George and wife Cheryl Sirois, John and Kate Henkel; great grandchildren Anne-Marie and Jordan Cross, Annabelle Henkel and Scarlett Sirois, and his many loving nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by the Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting, NJ. Visitation Thursday, 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm. Funeral Mass is on Friday, 10:45 am, St Elizabeth Seton Church, All Saints Chapel, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting, NJ.
