Obituary of Dorothy Barnes

Dorothy Barnes, 82, of Whiting, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 at home. Born in the Bronx, NY, she lived in Bloomfield, NJ before moving to Whiting 13 years ago. Dorothy was an elementary school teacher in Newark, NJ. She also worked in banking. She graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University where she received two Master’s Degrees. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting. Dorothy was predeceased by her two brothers, Tony and Walter Barnes. She is survived by two sisters, Margaret Dye of Whiting and Rose Stevens of Washington State; two nephews and one niece. A Memorial Mass will be offered at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, December 3rd at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Inurnment will follow at the chapel.
