Obituary of Elizabeth A. Hemmel

Elizabeth "Betty" Hemmel, age 99, of Whiting, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at The Pines at Whiting. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Rutherford and Hasbrouck Heights prior to moving to Whiting in 1983. Betty was an executive secretary at Charles of the Ritz and later for Kmart Corp, from which she retired. Betty volunteered at Deborah Heart and Lung Center and the Navy Relief. Throughout her life, Betty traveled the world extensively. Betty was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church in Whiting and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Her cousins, Elizabeth Rappa, Jackie Ferrara and Stephen Vogl and their families will miss her greatly. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ on Saturday, October 31, 2020.
