Obituary of Joanne Agnes Ragan
Joanne Agnes Ragan, 104, of Forked River, formerly of Whiting, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in Jessup, PA, she lived in Palmyra, NJ and Whiting, NJ from 2002 to 2016 before moving to Forked River. Joanne was a sales person at John Wanamaker’s and also worked at Picatinny Arsenal during World War II. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting. She was once an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Riverton, NJ and their Willing and Able organization.
Joanne was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, John Ragan in 2008; her son, Michael Ragan and her two brothers, John and Joseph Zelnick. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Marge Ragan; daughter-in-law, Sue Ragan (wife of Michael); seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 21st from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Riverside, NJ. Donations to St. Joseph Center, 2010 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509, stjosephcenter.org would be greatly appreciated by her family.
If you plan to attend, the family wishes you to use an abundance of caution and follow safety precautions due to the pandemic. Masks are mandatory indoor. The indoor limit in the Funeral Home will be 25 persons, however, we ask you to pay your respects and not congregate inside for too long. Masks and social distancing are encouraged even outdoor when congregating with visitors that are not from your immediate household.
