Obituary of Salvatore A Mavaro

Salvatore (Kelly) Mavaro, 89, of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. Kelly was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He lived in Staten Island, NY before moving to Whiting in 2003. Kelly was a longshoreman for NYS-ILA, NY, retiring in 1993. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Kelly enjoyed playing cards and traveling with his daughters. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting. Kelly was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Phyllis in 2012. He is survived by four children, Antoinette Conway and her husband, Jimmy, Lisa Osborne and her husband, Jim, Salvatore and Suzie Mavaro and Lillian Mavaro; four grandchildren, James, Michael and Christopher Conway and Jessica Mavaro Stoller and her husband, Mike; one great-grandson, Elliot Stoller; one brother, Fred Mavaro and his companion, Georgette Serchak. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, October 30th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting, NJ followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Inurnment will be at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in North Hampton Twp., NJ. Donations, in Salvatore’s memory, to VNA Hospice of Central NJ, 1433 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753 or the American Lung Association of NJ, 1600 Route 22 East, Union, NJ 07083 would be greatly appreciated by his family.
