Obituary of Eugene Maurice Rondeau

Eugene “Maurice” Rondeau, 72, of Toms River, NJ, passed away at home on Thursday, April 9, 2020. He was born in Orange, NJ and grew up in East Orange, NJ. Maurice graduated in 1966 from Essex Catholic High School in Newark, NJ. He was a Navy veteran, serving two tours in Vietnam from 1967-1971. In 1972, he married the love of his life, Jeanne McCoy. At the time of his death, they were married two weeks short of 49 years. They have one son, Jason Christopher Rondeau. Maurice was predeceased by his parents. Eugene Louis Rondeau and Jeanne Gladys May Rondeau. Maurice received and Associates Degree Summa cum Laude from Ocean County College, Toms River in 19778 and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 1979 from Stockton College in Galloway Township, where he also graduated Summa cum Laude. He continued his education by attending Rutgers School of Law, obtaining his Doctorate of Jurisprudence Degree. He was sworn in as a New Jersey Attorney in 1982 and began his career joining the law firm of Halligan and Grasso. Later, he opened his own firm. He partnered with former Judge Henry “Harry” F. Collins as the Law Firm of Collins and Rondeau, until Harry’s death. Maurice then continued as a sole practitioner in the Law Office of Eugene M. Rondeau, Esq. Maurice practiced law in Toms River for 37 years from 1982 until his death in 2020. He was a kind and caring man. While he maintained a general law practice, he always represented those in need. He helped all, regardless of their ability to afford an attorney. His incredible Loving, caring and understanding always set him apart. He loved to cook, travel the world, being near the water and spending time with his family and friends. His favorite thing to do was watching Jeapardy every day. Surviving is his wife, Jeanne; his son, Jason and his daughter-in-law, Julianne and his two granddaughters, Nora and Emily, whom he affectionately referred to as “the girls”. He was loved by Family, Friends and clients. So many in his life loved him, he will be greatly missed. A message to Maurice from Jeanne: “je t’aime mon Cheri” Due to the current situation with Covid-19, there will be no funeral service at this time. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to celebrate his life with family and friends.
