Obituary of Sophie Walak

Sophie Walak, 96, of Whiting, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019 at Whiting Health Care Center.  Sophie was born in Brooklyn, NY, and lived in Long Island, NY and Lakehurst, NJ before moving to Whiting in 1991.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading.  She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.

   Sophie was predeceased by her husband, Louis Walak, Sr. in 1981 and her son, Louis Walak, Jr. in 2015.  She is survived by one son, Thomas Walak of New York; one daughter, Diane Birdsall of Whiting and four grandchildren. 

   A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, July 9th from 11 am to 12:30 pm at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting, NJ followed by a Memorial Service at 12:30 pm at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at 1 pm at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting.
