Obituary of Persella Stasuzzo

   Persella (Pat) Stasuzzo passed away on December 16, 2018 at AristaCare in Whiting, N.J. where she had resided since May of 2018. Pat was born in East Orange, N.J. to Carmela Pasapane and Raffaela Paciello on February 6, 1926. She was the 7th of their 9 children. Persella was affectionately known as “Bessie” to her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and “Pat” to her friends.

   She grew up in East Orange and the Vailsburg section of Newark and went to West Side High School until she started working as a seamstress with her mother and sisters in local tailor shops in Newark. She was a talented seamstress, knitter, crocheter, beader, quilter, “egger” and all around crafter.

   Persella married A. Vincent Stasuzzo on September 11, 1948. They had 3 children, Sandra (Sandy), Deborah (Debbie) and Patricia. They resided in Newark, N.J. until 1962 when they moved to Union, N.J. where the children attended school and the family enjoyed summers, holidays and vacations with relatives and close friends. Persella was a homemaker while Vincent worked at Mueller’s Wholesale Florist in Newark. When Vincent retired he and Persella moved to the Original Leisure Village in Lakewood, N.J. where they enjoyed many clubs and activities and also, visits from their 3 granddaughters.

   Persella was predeceased by her husband Vincent in January 2006 and her daughter Debbie in December 2009. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Dolores Van Horn, Margaret Petrozzello, Frances Foglia, Susan DeSisto, and brothers Vincent and George Paciello.

   Surviving is her daughter Sandy Masteller and her husband George from Manchester, N.J., their daughter Claire, and her daughter Patricia Johnson from San Diego, CA and her daughters, Skye and Emily. Also surviving are her sisters Esther Armenti and Linda Mitola and many nieces and nephews.

   A private memorial service will be held at a future date for the immediate family at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, N.J. where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband Vincent.
