Obituary of Marie T. Sherry

Marie T. Sherry, 93, of Whiting, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018 at home.  Born and raised in New York City, NY, she moved to Whiting in 1993.  Marie graduated from Lehman College in New York City with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.  She was a dedicated registered nurse for more than 40 years working in several hospitals in New York City, NY. Her last job was working at the Bronx Veterans Medical Center, Bronx, NY for 10 years, retiring in 1943.  She was a member of the Ocean County Right to Life in Toms River.  She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and a member of the church’s Altar Rosary Society and Respect Life Committee.  She was one of the church’s original parish nurses. 

   Marie was predeceased by her husband, John J. Sherry, Jr. in 1999 and her sister, Elizabeth Ann Lewis in 2009.  She is survived by one daughter, Ann of Whiting; six sons, Paul of Telluride, CO, John of Chester, NY, Timothy of Croton-on-Hudson, NY, Joseph of Riverdale, NY, Patrick of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY and Francis of Whiting; one sister, Helen Hiner of Bloomfield, NJ and thirteen grandchildren.

   Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 15th, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting.  A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Thursday, Aug. 16th at 9 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.  Interment will follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery in Lakewood.
