Obituary of Mary Marino

Mary Marino, 82, of Whiting, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Community Medical Center in Toms River.  She was born and raised in Passaic, NJ, the eldest daughter of Sam and Francesca Fasciana.  She was an accomplished singer, starting as a child into adulthood.  She performed on stage and on TV.  Throughout the years she was called upon at family functions to sing.  Her uncle loved her rendition of Danny Boy.

Mary was a graduate of Passaic High School.  She went to work in the Data Processing Department at Shulton Company in Clifton, NJ where she met her future husband, Anthony Marino.  They started their married life in Hawthorne, NJ, built their first home in Wayne, NJ, where they became quite involved in politics.

Their journey brought them to North Ridgeville, Ohio, where she attended Loraine County College, eventually moving back to New Jersey where she worked as an Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Communications at William Paterson University until retiring to Whiting in 1992.  She was quite the story teller and would tell her stories from start to finish many times over throughout the years.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Marino in 2008.  She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Linda Marino of West Milford, NJ; one daughter, Gloria Velebir and her boyfriend, Art Reso of Highland Lakes, NJ; her grandchildren, Daniel and Meghan Marino and Angela, James and Mark O’Leary; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Ficklen and Domenic O’Leary and sister, Patricia Fasciana.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 22nd from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Attn: Gift Processing, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301
