Obituary of Joan M. Barnard

   Joan M. Barnard, 86, of Whiting, NJ passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at Community Medical Center in Toms River.  Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, she lived in Staten Island, NY and Jackson, NJ before moving to Whiting 29 years ago.   

   She was very proud that she became an LPN nurse at the age of 41 and practiced at Community Medical Center and Paul Kimball Hospital and worked for Dr. Kuflik.  She wanted to be remembered for her love for each of her children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren, the Church Carmelites, Love of God, Music, Dance and laughter, reading, the ocean and walking, gardens and flowers.  She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Whiting.

   Joan was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Barnard in 1997.  She is survived by her companion, Ed Hampson; one daughter, Janice Davis and her husband, Michael of Manahawkin, NJ; two sons, Jeff Barnard and his wife, Karen of Jackson, NJ and Gary Barnard of Ringwood, NJ; grandchildren, Julie and husband, Jeff, Joseph and wife, Lisa, Laura and husband, Tom, Justin, Ryan and Taylor and Steven; 8 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marianne Kennedy-Clancy; one brother-in-law, Michael Stroganoff and his wife, Mary; one sister-in-law, Gay O’Neill and many nieces and nephews.

   Visitation will be Wednesday, February 21st from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Manchester memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.  Interment will be at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, P.O. Box 5028, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5028.
