Obituary of James Joseph McAlear

   James 'Jay' McAlear, Whiting NJ, formerly of Brielle passed away on November 5 at Deborah Heart and Lung Center, NJ. Jay loved the outdoors and was happiest when he was hunting or fishing. He wrote the Fish and Game column for the Bergen Record for years. He loved the Manasquan Inlet and was an early member of the 'Over the Rail Gang', a group who enjoyed conversation, coffee and fishing at the Inlet.

   Jay is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Elizabeth McAlear and their six children. Eileen Ballard Sevastakis (Billy) Brick,  Maureen McCormack (Tommy) Toms River, Christopher McAlear (Deena) Dunkirk, MD, Patti Dalgarno Larkin (Kevin) Manasquan, Mary Goss (Greg) Wall, and Kathleen Larsen (Tommy) Cresco, PA - 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

   A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, November 14 at 10:45am at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Whiting, NJ. Donations in his memory may be made to Deborah Heart and Lung Center (demanddeborah.org)
