Obituary of Maurice Patrick O'Connor
Maurice Patrick O’Connor, 82, of Manchester, NJ, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Born in New York City, NY, he lived in Paramus before moving to Country Walk, Manchester in 2004. Maurice was employed, with 38 years of service, with the City of New York, President, Borough of the Bronx, Bureau of Engineering and Topography as Senior Project Coordinator before his retirement in December 1995. He was a member of the District Council 37, Local 375, Chapter 15 and the Retiree’s Chapter. Maurice was honorably discharged by the U.S. Navy. He loved playing cards and billiards in Country Walk and was an avid chess player. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Maurice is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary N. O’Connor, nee Nagle; his loving daughters, Mary Ann Schaberg and her husband, Brian and Christine Jeanne Brown and her husband Matthew of Wood-Ridge, NJ; his cherished grandchildren, Erica Lee and Connor James Schaberg and Anne Marie Brown. He is also survived by his two dear sisters, Mary Griffin of Waldwick, NJ and Eileen Dilworth of Paramus, NJ.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 21st at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:45 a.m., at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
