Obituary of Greta E. McDermott

   Greta J. McDermott, 85, of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Wyomissing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Reading, PA.  Born in Union, NJ, she lived in Kearny for 25 years and the Poconos and Stroudsburg, PA for 15 years before moving to Whiting in 2005.  Greta was a bookkeeper for Prudential Insurance Co., Whippany, NJ for 20 years, retiring in 1997.  She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and a member of the Altar Rosary Society and Choir.
  

   She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph B. McDermott in 2015 and her cherished son, Edward B. McDermott in 1987.  She is survived by her dear son, Joseph P. McDermott of Reading, PA; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
  

   Visitation will be Tuesday, August 1st from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Wednesday, August 2nd at 10:45 a.m., at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.  Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William B. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Greta’s memory to the Popcorn Park Zoo, Associated Humane Society, P.O. Box 43, Forked River, NJ 08731-0043.
