Dear Family of Agnes,
Agnes and Herman Walles have been very important for me and my work on the research of the music the "Burgenlanders" brought from Austria. Herman and Agnes hosted me in the 1980s and helped me in a wounderful way to find all the circumstances about playing the music in the "New World" at the time around WW II and after that.
My whole life as an ethnomusicologist at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna would not be so sucsessful and would be very different without Agnes and Herman: They helped me very much to finish my Dissertation and we still play the music with our Folk Music Bands in Austria which gave us Family Walles from Whiting, N.J., we will cherish the given music of Family Walles and will allways remember the nice couple Agnes and Herman as often we play and listen the music. Now Agnes closed her eyes for ever - I hope she had a good time in the last years with her family. My remembrence will be as long as my life will be ...
