Obituary of Helen Brogan

Helen Brogan, 96, of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Leisure Park Health Center in Lakewood. Born on July 21, 1920, Helen was the daughter of Martin and Agnes Patterson Brogan and sister of Mary Louise and Paul. Helen graduated from East Orange High School and was employed by the Bendix Corporation (now Honeywell). She spent her entire career with Bendix and rose to the position of executive secretary to senior corporate personnel. Helen resided in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ with her sister until she retired, at which time they moved to Crestwood Village in Whiting, NJ. The two sisters were devoted to each other and shared a love of travel, especially to Vermont each fall. Helen became best friends with Jean Gilhooly Rizzi during elementary school and enjoyed a lifelong friendship. Helen was godmother, aunt and second mother to Jean's children, Carol Rizzi Ellingwood and Bill Rizzi and had a special relationship with Carol's husband, Dave, and her children, Rebecca and Kevin. They, along with her friends, will miss her immensely. Helen was a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church in Whiting where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 20th at 10:45 a.m.
