Obituary of Antonio Basirico

Antonio Basirico, 83, of Whiting, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at home. Born in Sicily, Italy, he lived in Old Bridge for 45 years before moving to Whiting 14 years ago. Antonio was the manager of D.B. Brown Meat Company in Cranford for 42 years, retiring in 1999. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and was the church’s soup chef during Lent for six years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary Basirico; one daughter, Janine M. Martin of NY State; one son, Anthony J. Basirico and his wife, JoAnn of Milltown; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, March 30th at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:45 a.m., Friday, March 31st at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 would be appreciated.
