Obituary of Robert Bihler
Robert Bihler, 92, of Whiting, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2016. Born and raised in Elizabeth, he lived in Clark and Bayville before moving to Whiting 11 years ago. Bob was a forms designer for Singer Company in Elizabeth and Rockefeller Center, New York City. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater, participating in the liberation of the Philippines and the occupation of Japan. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Presidential Unit Citation and other medals. He was a communicant of St. John the Apostle Church in Clark, and later, a Founding Trustee and President of the Holy Name Society of St. Agnes Church in Clark. He was a communicant of both St. Barnabas Church in Bayville and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting, and was an usher and member of both churches’ Holy Name Societies.
Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Henrietta Hayden Bihler in 2012 and his brother, George and sister, Terry. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Corsello of Philadelphia and Janice Bihler and her husband, Eric Mayerson of Teaneck; three brothers, William, Fred and Joseph; one sister, Dorothea Pamula; and four grandchildren, Ellen Corsello and her husband, Chuck Racz, Claire Corsello and Laura and Edward Mayerson.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 16th from 3-7 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Friday, June 17th at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
