Obituary of Melvin M. Burnett
Melvin M. Burnett, 84, of Whiting, passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in Bayonne, he lived in Cranford before moving to Whiting in 1998. Melvin worked for McDowell Fuel Oil Company, Westfield. He was a member and benefactor of American Keswick. He was a former member of the Cranford Alliance Church and a member of the Whiting United Methodist Church.
Melvin was predeceased by three brothers, Gerald, Donald and James and five sisters, Marian Barz, Jean Burnett, Claire Mallon, Dorothy Burnett and Ruth Burnett. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Burnett; two sisters, Betty White and Mildred Burn; four nieces, Nancy Quinlan, Glenda Day, Ruth Vessells and Terri Waldren; three nephews, George Burn, Dale White and Rick Burnett; three step-children, Christine Hoffman, Peggi Schaub and Bob Ashton; five step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10th, from 1 to 4 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 3 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Whiting United Methodist Church, 55 Lacey Rd., Whiting, NJ 08759.
