Obituary of Harry R Van Benschoten
Harry R. Van Benschoten of Camden Wyoming, Delaware, formerly of Parsippany, Little Falls, and Nutley New Jersey, passed away suddenly on February 11, 2016. He was 74 years old. Harry was born on July 1, 1941, in Newark, New Jersey to the late Harry and Margaret Van Benschoten.
Shortly after graduating high school, Harry enlisted in the United States Army Reserves and was assigned to Ft. Dix. He loved everything about America, and took every opportunity to talk about politics, or voice his opinion. He was an extremely hard worker, self-starter, and an entrepreneur. He owned and operated several businesses over the course of his career, including refrigeration, catering, and furniture restoration. He also enjoyed auto racing, and fixing up cars for resale. He was a friend to all and would do whatever he could to help someone out. Above all, he cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Harry leaves behind his children, Samuel and Matthew (Cait); grandchildren, Grace, Molly, and Sarah; sister, Margaret (Ernie); nephew, Christopher Pantess; former spouse, Betty (nee. Haney) and her companion, Bruce Pignone; and brother in law, Raymond Majeski.
Family and friends may begin gathering at 11:00 am. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:45 am on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Manchester Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting, NJ. 08759.
