Obituary of William L. Ryan

William L. Ryan, 96, of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at AristaCare at Whiting. He was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived there until he moved to Whiting 23 years ago. William was a longshoreman for Port Authority in Brooklyn, NY. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Baron De Kalb in Brooklyn, the American Legion, Post #502 in Whiting and a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. William is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Lucille Ryan; three children, Marian Finn and her husband Dennis, Robert Ryan and his wife, Carmela and William Ryan and his wife, Linda; one sister, Veronica O’Brien; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Dennis, Robert, Colleen, William. Nicole, Christopher and Thomas and seven great-grandchildren, Philip, Salvatore, Alexandra, Nicholas, Lacey, Ariana and Gaetano. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 7th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 8th from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
