Obituary of John Avery Spaulding. DDS
John Avery Spaulding, DDS, 94, of Toms River, NJ, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at home. Born in Groton, NY, he lived in Woodstown, NJ before moving to Toms River 59 years ago. He attended Georgetown University and was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry in 1952. John was a self-employed dentist in Seaside Heights, NJ for 40 years, retiring in 2000. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a U.S. Naval Dental Corps Reservist. He was a member of the VFW 6063 in Toms River, the Jersey Shore Aero Club in Lakewood and was a member of the NJ Dental Society. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Toms River and St. Catharine of Siena Church, Seaside Park.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Frances Spaulding in 2006. He is survived by three daughters, Margaret Kelly of Toms River, Ann Funck of New Egypt and Rosemary Hall of Highland Lake; two sons, John J. Spaulding and Stephen R. Spaulding, both of Brick; one brother, Ralph Spaulding; one sister, Betsy Kilham; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Amy, Alex, Zane, Shannon, Stephen, Timothy, Brittany and Lauren and one great-granddaughter, Frances.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, June 6th at 10 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Inurnment will be Wednesday, June 10th at 1:30 p.m. at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the VFW 6063, 210 Courthouse Lane, Toms River, NJ 08753.
