Obituary of Armand Tedesco
Armand F. Tedesco, 98, of Whiting, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 at The Pines of Whiting. Born in South Amboy, he lived there and Perth Amboy before moving to Whiting in 1982. Armand was an Architectural Hardware Consultant and Vice-President for Madsen & Howell, Inc., Perth Amboy for 50 years, retiring in 1979. He was a self-employed musician leading his own band, "Armand Tedesco & His Melody Men" for more than 50 years. He was a life member of the AFofM Musicians Union, Local 373, Perth Amboy for more than 50 years and their union treasurer for 30 years and a life member of Local 745, Plainfield. He was a member of the Crestwood Village VI Golf Club, Bowling League and Bocci Club and a member of the Italian American Club and Irish American Club, both, of Whiting. He was a communicant and usher of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and a member of their Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of the Pines, Council 9852, Whiting and also a life member of the Knights of Columbus, San Salvador, Council 299, Perth Amboy.
He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Mary E. Kenna in 2004; four brothers, Ferdinand, Dominic, Joseph and Alphonsus and one sister, Carmelita Coan. He is survived by four children, Betty Ann Blanchard of Edison, Thomas J. Tedesco of Whiting, Joan Wentura of Edison and Mary Ellen O'Neal of Glen Gardner; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 15th and 9 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 16th at the Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10:45 a.m., Thursday at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting followed by interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River.
