Obituary of Irene Torresson

Irene C. Torresson, 92, of Whiting, died peacefully at home on July 1st, finally joining her beloved Tom, who went before her in 2005. Mrs. Torresson lived at the Pines at Whiting, moving to the community from The Meadows at Lake Ridge in 2007. Born in Hoboken, Mrs. Torresson resided in Toms River for 30 years, before moving to Whiting in 2000. She graduated from Catherine Gibbs College of New York and worked for both Time Life Inc, and the New Jersey Zinc Company. She was a Life Member of Deborah Hospital Foundation, working tirelessly for the Pine Shore Chapter for many years. Irene was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and the Adoration Society. In addition to her husband, Irene is predeceased by two grandchildren Mark Thomas Capps and Brian Joseph Gazzara. She is survived by her son Thomas S. Torresson, III and his wife Joanne; two daughters Mary Ellen Capps and her husband Bill, and Susan Gazzara and her husband Joseph; seven grandchildren, Thomas, Elizabeth, Sandy, Jennifer, Patrick, Christopher, and Stephanie; and 9 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm, on Tuesday, July 6th, and from 9 to 9:45 am, on Wednesday, July 7th, at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home 28 Schoolhouse Rd, Whiting. A funeral liturgy will follow at 10 am, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Burial will follow the mass at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.
