Obituary of Cornelius Poartfleet

Cornelius J. Poartfleet, 91, passed away, Thursday, June 17th, at home. Born in Haledon, he resided in Hawthorne, before moving to Whiting, in 1980. He worked as an investigator for the New Jersey Dept. of Labor for 26 years, retiring in 1974. Cornelius was an US Army Veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa and Italy. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Cornelius was predeceased by his wife, Josephine in 2002. He is survived by two nephews and two nieces, Walter Endler, Carol Ann Glynn, Linda Plakis and Anthony Plakis. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A funeral liturgy will follow at 11 a.m., at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Entombment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River.
