Obituary of Mary Hendrie
Mary (McFadden) Hendrie, 84, of Whiting, NJ, formerly of Enfield, CT, entered into her eternal life at the age of 84 on Sunday, February 7, 2010. She was the beloved wife of 54 years to Walter Hendrie. Mary was born on March 30, 1925, in Cambuslang, Scotland, the daughter of the late Charles and Bridget (Toner) McFadden. She was a graduate of the Glasgow Royal Maternity & Women's Hospital in Scotland, and was employed for over 25 years as a registered nurse at Rockville General Hospital in Rockville, CT, working prior to that at Northern Westchester County Hospital and Greenwich Hospital. Mary volunteered as a Parish Nurse at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting and enjoyed bowling, bocce, shuffleboard, knitting, and ceramics.
Mary was the loving mother of Paul Hendrie and his wife, Caroline, of Potomac, MD; Marjorie Francolini and her husband, Rick, of Ellington, CT; Alison Judge and her husband, Chris, of Croton-on-Hudson, NY; and Joan Vellios and her husband, Nick, of Waldwick, NJ; the beloved grandmother of Ian, Mary, and Colin Hendrie; Brian and Rosemary Francolini; Samantha, Alex, Andrew, and Tess Judge; and Caitlin and Matthew Vellios. Mary also leaves her sisters Bridget Gourlay, Grace McFadden, Etta McFadden, and Norah McFadden of Scotland; and her brother Patrick McFadden of Scotland. She was predeceased by her brother William McFadden and sister Anna McFadden.
Calling hours will be held for Mary on Friday, February 12, 2010, at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home in Whiting, NJ, at 10 a.m., with a memorial service at 12 p.m. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
