Obituary of Sr. Ray
William N. Ray, Sr., 78, of Whiting, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2010 at Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood. Mr. Ray was born in Queens, NY and lived in Manalapan before moving to Whiting in 1991. He worked in sales for United Shoe Manufacturing Company, CT, retiring in 1995. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and Past President of the Whiting Station Residents Club. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Manalapan.
He was predeceased by his brother, George in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marian (Hartung) Ray; two daughters, Deborah Rice of Manahawkin and Nancy Varley of Freehold; two sons, William, Jr. of Princeton and John of Freehold and 12 grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 12 noon at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
