Obituary of Thomas McGrath
Thomas McGrath, 87, of Whiting, died Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Crestwood Manor Nursing Home, Whiting. Born in Newark, NJ he lived in Kearny before moving to Whiting in 1985. He was employed by Otis Elevator Company for many years, retiring from there in 1977. He was then employed by the Breeze Corp., Union, NJ until retiring in 1987. Mr. McGrath was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of the Pines Council, Whiting; a member of the Knights of Columbus, John D. McMahon Assembly, Toms River; and a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, Whiting, where he was an Usher and member of the Holy Name Society.
He was predeceased by his parents Edward & Louise (Grehl) McGrath; his brother, Joseph and his sister, Dorothy Becker. He was also predeceased by his wife, Edna, in 2006. He is survived by four brothers & sisters-in law, Edward & wife, Frances; John & wife, Beverly; William & wife, Veronica and Lawrence & wife, Joan; one sister, Ruth Salzano; his brother-in-law, William Becker; and many nieces & nephews.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, Whiting.
