Obituary of Mary Atkinson

MARY D. ATKINSON, 97, of Whiting, formerly of Chatham, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009 at Whiting Health Care Center in Manchester. Born in Haddon Heights, she lived in Chatham before moving to Whiting in 1976. Mrs. Atkinson was a homemaker and a member of the Residents Club of Crestwood Village II. She enjoyed the Jersey Shore - especially Ocean City, line dancing, eating ice cream, traveling, reading and praying for her country and our servicemen and women. She was a member of the Community Reformed Church, Whiting. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, George A. Atkinson, Sr. in 1996 and her sister, Jane D. Moeller in 2007. She is survived by three children, George A. Atkinson, Jr. of Redding, CT, William D. Atkinson of Englewood, CO and Mary Anne Wheeler of Port Angeles, WA; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Inurnment will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Whiting Memorial Park. Following the inurnment, a Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. at the Community Reformed Church, 30 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ 08759.
