Obituary of Nicholas Simone
Nicholas F. Simone, 88, of Country Walk, Whiting, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 at the Van Dyke Hospice in Toms River. Born in Astoria, Queens, NY, he lived on Long Island, NY and in Arapahoe, NC before moving to Whiting in 2005. Mr. Simone was a machinist and welder for Grumman Aircraft Manufacturing, Bethpage, Long Island, NY for 40 years, retiring in 1979. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Ola in 1993. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Claire; one daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Joe Giallanza of Whiting; one brother, Anthony Simone of Lindenhurst, Long Island, NY; grandchildren, Nicholas, Jennifer and husband, Harry, Linda and husband, Jason and great-grandchildren Kelly, Maggie and Carter.
Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009 and 10 to 10:45 a.m., Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
