Obituary of Henry Guyt
Guyt, Henry P., 80, of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at home. He was born in Manhattan, NY and lived in Bonita Springs, FL and Northvale, NJ before moving to Whiting. He worked for the Department of Sanitation of New York City for 26 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Local 15 Operating Engineers. He was a US Marine veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 502 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was predeceased by his son, Douglas Guyt in February 2009. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Joan (Popper) nee Whitehead; his former wife, Lillian; four children, William, Henry, Daniel and Joseph; one brother-in-law, John and his wife, Connie Whitehead; a lifelong friend, Jim Kasbarian; seven step-children, Bonnie, Nancy, Joanne, Joni, Jeanne, David and John; 17 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m., in the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1035 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753 or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Central Jersey Chapter, 740 Broad Street, Red Bank, NJ 07702.
