Obituary of Gerard DeMilia
Gerard J. DeMilia, 85, of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, June 02, 2009, at Whiting Health Care Center in Manchester. Gerard was born in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Carlstadt before moving to Whiting in 1994. He was a warehouseman for Rolls Royce, Lyndhurst, for 21 years, retiring in 1994. He was a US Army Air Force veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW in Whiting and Carlstadt. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor; two children and their spouses, Valerie and Joe Proctor of Whiting and Gerard and Marcia De Milia of Texas; two brothers, Raymond of Upper Saddle River and John of Mahwah; four grandsons and three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be 2 p.m., Friday at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834.
