Obituary of Jr. Dickert

Joseph J. Dickert, Jr., 88, of Whiting, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, at AristaCare, Whiting. Born in Madison, WI, he served as a First Lt. in Alaska during WW II. In 1947, he moved to Westville, NJ, in 1963, Yardley, PA and moved to Whiting in 2000. Joe worked as a Senior Research Chemist for Mobil Corporation for 37 years. After retiring, he volunteered at Bishop Egan High School where he catalogued and rebound books. He was a Lector for St. John's Evangelist R. C. Church. He was predeceased by his daughter, Joan and his brother, Edward of Milwaukee. Surviving are his wife, Katherine, of 63 years; two daughters, Janet and Judy; four sons, John, James, Jeff and Jason; two sisters, Ruth of Madison and Mary of Rochester; 11 grandchildren, Andrya, Matthew, Emily, Lauren, Daniel, Norah, Kaitlin, Timothy, Rachel, Zoe and Olivia and three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob and Hayden. Relatives and friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., Tuesday at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 9 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to COPSA (Aging Services) at the 'Foundation of UMDNJ (COPSA),' 120 Albany Street, Tower 2, Suite 850, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
