Obituary of Stanley Bojanowski
STANLEY HENRY BOJANOWSKI AGE: 92 * WHITING
Stanley Henry Bojanowski, 92, of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Mr. Bojanowski was born and raised in Paterson, NJ. He lived in Prospect Park and Barnegat before moving to Whiting in 1997. He graduated from High School and received an Associate Degree from Pace College in New York City. He was in the first Selective Service Draft of World War II in 1940 and served in the US Army from May 25, 1942 to December 1, 1945. He served overseas in North Africa and Italy in 1943 through 1945. While overseas in Italy, he visited the Vatican during Pope Pius XII's weekly public appearance and received the Papal Blessing. After the war, he joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9782 in North Haledon, NJ where he was Post Commander from 1974 to 1975. He later transferred to Post 9503 in Bayville, NJ, joining the Post Color Guard, serving for 16 years, from 1982 to 1998. Later, he joined the American Legion, Post 502 in Whiting. He was elected President of the Old Guard of Waretown, Chapter 21, in 1990 and 1991. He was President of the Prime Timers of Barnegat from 1994 to 1995. He was also Chairman of the Election Committee of Crosswinds Condominium Association, Barnegat, NJ and Treasurer of the Social Committee of Crosswinds. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Judy Brown in 1983 and two brothers, Eugene and Victor Bojanowski. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie; two daughters, Claire Fawcett and her husband, John of Barnegat and Linda Bojanowski and her husband, Scott Miller; five grandchildren, John, David, Brian, Melissa and Emily and one great-grandchild, Brooke.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, May 11, 2009, from 2 to 4 p.m. and Tuesday morning, May 12, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be at Christ the King Cemetery, Franklin Lakes, NJ. Donations in his memory may be made to Deborah Hospital Foundation, 21 Trenton Road, Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
