Obituary of Robert LaChaussee
Robert A. LaChaussee, 83, of Whiting, passed away Friday, April 24, 2009. Mr. LaChaussee was born and raised in Jersey City. He lived overseas, during his time in the military, and in Bayville before moving to Whiting in 1986. He retired from the US Army as a Command Sergeant Major in 1975 after serving 28 years. He was a member of the 1st Infantry Division, serving during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After his retirement, he worked at Fort Dix and Lakehurst Naval Air Station. He loved to travel, especially with his family on their annual trip to the Hale Koa Hotel in Hawaii. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
He was predeceased by his brother, Charles LaChaussee and his sister, Joan Bender. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anne; three children and their spouses, Charles and Gina LaChaussee, Robert and Marieann LaChaussee and Nancy and Kevin McIntyre; one sister, Janet Gray and four grandchildren, Erin, Kevin, Robert and Sean.
Relatives and friends may call from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Donation, in his memory, to the Whiting Volunteer First Aid, PO Box 187 Whiting, NJ 08759, would be appreciated.
