Obituary of Sr. Pace
Vincent J. Pace, Sr., 89, of Whiting, Manchester, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in Ravenna, Ohio, he lived in Brooklyn, NY from 1927 to 1942 and Mineola, Long Island, NY from 1966 to 1984 when he moved to Whiting. Mr Pace was a Buyer and Draftsman for F.W. Woolworth, New York, NY for 38 years, retiring in 1983. He was a US Air Force veteran of World War II, retiring as a Major. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and was a member of the Knights of Columbus #9852 and the Holy Name Society, both of Long Island, NY. He was a former chief of the Crestwood Village VI Safety Patrol and a member of the Shuffleboard, Bocci and Billiards Clubs. He was predeceased by his wife, Blanche in 1992. Surviving are two children and their spouses, Vincent, Jr. and Rebecca, of New Paltz, NY and Michele and Peter Oppermann of Upper Saddle River, NJ; one sister, Elizabeth Mazzucco of Staten Island, NY and four grandchildren, Emily, Taylor, Benjamin and Dana. A Memorial Mass will be offered at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Arrangements are under the direction of Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, Whiting. In lieu of flowers, Mass Cards would be appreciated.
