Obituary of Cristina Mecchia

Cristina Mecchia, 51, of Whiting, Manchester, passed away Thursday, Feb. 5, at home. Born in Perth Amboy, she lived in Carteret before moving to Whiting in 2002. Cristina was a medical technician and a caregiver. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Cristina was greatly loved and will be missed by all. She was predeceased by her parents, Valerio and Pierina Mecchia and her sister, Gabriella Mecchia. Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, John and Marilyn Mecchia; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Annmarie and Bernadino Stragapede and Paula Mecchia; three nephews, Mark and Daniel Stragapede and Andrea Comin; one niece, Tatiana Kretlow; three great nephews, Christopher, David and Joseph and four great nieces, Jenna, Gianna, Jennifer and Valerie. A Memorial Mass will be offered Saturday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. in the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Popcorn Park Zoo, Humane Way, Forked River, NJ 08731. Arrangements are under the direction of Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, Whiting.
