Obituary of Phyllis Van Brunt
Phyllis M. Van Brunt, of Whiting, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014. Phyllis would have been 93 years old on July 25th. She was born in Hoboken, NJ, and lived in Denville and Chester, NJ before moving to Whiting 24 years ago.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Howard. She is survived by her children, Phyllis Byrne of Sparta, NJ, Robert of Whiting and Linda (Scott) Soncrant of Young Harris, GA; five grandchildren, Thomas, Michael, David Anmarie and Lance and five great-grandchildren, Caroline, Ryan, Matthew, Holly and Kevin.
Phyllis and Howard were owners of Dairy Queens in both Morris Plains and Chester, NJ for 32 years before retiring. While living in Whiting, she enjoyed bowling in several leagues and making trips to Atlantic City. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 22nd at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a mass at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. In lieu of Flowers, donations in her memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
