Obituary of John Shea
John J. Shea, 97, of Whiting, passed away, Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in New York City, NY, he lived in Floral Park, NY before moving to Whiting in 1989. John was the supervisor of operations for Railway Express in New York City for 30 years. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II serving in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus in the Bronx, NY and a member of the Residents Club of Whiting Station. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas O'Shea and his sisters, Mary Cullen and Kathleen Schuldt. He is survived by his wife, Rita; two nieces, Barbara Bruno and Geraldine Coberg, three nephews, Richard and Robert Cullen and Daniel O'Shea and many great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 8th from 2 to 6 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 9 a.m., Monday, Dec. 9th at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
