Obituary of Jean Riley
JEAN V. RILEY, of Whiting, MANCHESTER, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side at the age of 75, on Sunday, May 4, 2008.
Jean was the beloved wife of the late, Edward P. Riley, Jr., who passed away a few months prior. Married for 57 years, the two were childhood sweethearts who loved each other and their family.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Catherine McClelland and her brothers, William and Lloyd.
Jean was born on May 22, 1932, grew up in Montclair, NJ and attended Clifton High School, where she met the love of her life, Ed. The couple moved to Bucks County, PA to raise their family. In 2002, the couple returned to their native state of NJ to further enjoy retirement.
Surviving Jean are her three children: Kathy (Riley) Bloom Devey and her husband, Scott of Cherry Hill, NJ; Ed Riley III and his wife, Maureen Of Holland, PA; and Jim Riley and his wife, Sue of Swedesboro, NJ.
Affectionately known as Mom-Mom, she treasured her nine grandchildren: Shannon (Riley) Briscoe, Her husband, Chris and daughter, Kyla; Erin Bloom, Leah Bloom, Gina Bloom, Jimmy Riley Jr., Lauren Riley, Bryan Riley, Caitlin Riley and Colleen Riley.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be remembered by all who knew her for her gentleness, her kindness, her selflessness, her tenderness and her loving spirit. She was the embodiment of an angel on earth.
As a testament to the devotion for each other, Ed and Jean requested that a memorial service be held celebrating their life together. Family and Friends will meet on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, 212 Durham Road, Ottsville, PA. www.saintlukesucc.org.
A private interment for family members will take place at Keller's Church Cemetery in Perkasie, PA.
