Obituary of Virginia Dooley
V. VIRGINIA DOOLEY, 94, of Whiting, MANCHESTER, passed away on Friday, April 11, at Newark Nursing Home in Newark, DE. Miss Dooley was born in Hoboken and lived there and West Orange before moving to Whiting in 1975. She was a guidance counselor with the Hoboken Board of Education for 35 years, retiring in 1974. She received her B.A. Degree in Education from the College of St. Elizabeth, Convent Station, in 1935 and her Masters Degree in Education from Fordham University in 1945. She was a member of the NJ Education Association, the Ocean County Retired Educators and the National Education Association. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
She was predeceased by her sister, Alice Dooley in 1997. She is survived by her cousin, William Sander and his wife, Rosemarie of Newark, DE.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting, followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. in the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and burial in Whiting Memorial Park, Whiting. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting, 08759.
