Obituary of Bertha "Bertie" Tuting
BERTHA (BERTIE) TUTING, 87, Whiting, Manchester Twp, formerly of Kearny, passed away and joined her late husband Bill on February 29, 2008. Bertie was born and raised in Scranton, PA and moved to Harrison, NJ during the war and became a tube tester for RCA. She even became a 'poster girl' for those women working in factories to support the troops during the war. While working at RCA, the women were bused to Ft. Hancock (Gateway National Park), for Army dances where she met her beloved late husband Bill on the dance floor. They became partners forever. Bertie and Bill eventually settled in Kearny where they raised their son Bill. Bertie was a strong supporter of the 1st Methodist Church, Kearny and Lakehurst United Methodist Church. Bertie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bill, her brother Ed and sister Marguerite. Bertie is survived by her sisters; Helen Jezek, Sally Ann Tessalone, brother Anthony Staninas, son Bill and his wife Flo, and grandson Todd and his mother Patricia Tuting. Also surviving are Todd's wife Laura Vasel and great great-grandsons: Logan, Liam and Wyatt. Funeral services will be held at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting, NJ 08759. Relatives and friends may visit on Monday, March 3rd from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM with a Memorial Service at 10 AM, Tues, March 4th.
