Obituary of Concetta Recchio
Concetta M. Recchio (nee Vergona), 90, of Whiting, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Pines at Whiting. Connie was born on Aug. 7, 1922 in North Bergen NJ, and resided in Guttenberg, NJ until moving to Dumont, NJ in 1973, following her marriage to her beloved husband, John Recchio. Following her retirement, she moved to Crestwood Village 5 in Whiting, NJ in 2000. For most of her life, Connie worked as a beautician for the Arnold Constable Dept. Store in Hackensack, and later as a research technician with Avon Products in Suffern, NJ.
She was predeceased by her husband, John, a sister, Jennie LaRosa and five brothers, Anthony, Dominick, Albert, Vincent and Joseph Vergona. She is survived by her nephew and god-son, William P. LaRosa of Manasquan, NJ, a step-daughter, Constance Peterson of Whiting, NJ and many nieces and nephews.
Connie will be remembered as a person of great Christian faith. Her devotion and generosity to many Catholic charities and religious orders symbolized her living out the true Gospel with acts of faith, hope and love.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Whiting and a member of several of their parish organizations. In keeping with Connie's wishes, there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 30 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting on Friday, Feb. 8 at 10:45 a.m. Private interment in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Pines at Whiting for their attentive and compassionate care. All arrangements are being handled by Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, Whiting. In Connie's memory, donations to the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties would be gratefully accepted.
