Obituary of Marie Schweizer

Marie C. Schweizer, 100, of Whiting, passed away Saturday, February 02, 2013 at home. Marie was born in New York City, NY and lived most of her life there and in Franklin Square, NY before moving to Whiting in 1973. She was a teacher in the Union Free School District #17, Franklin Square, NY for 41 years, retiring in 1973. She received her BA Degree from New York University in 1937 and her Masters Degree from SUNY, New Paltz, NY in 1952. She was a life member of the PTA, a member of the NY State Retired Teachers Assoc., and the Residents Club and Women's Club of Crestwood Village III, Whiting. Marie was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and was a CCD Teacher, Eucharistic Minister, Member of church's Choir and Altar Rosary Society. Marie is survived by several cousins. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 4th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5th at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY.
