Obituary of Heinz Meyer
Heinz G. Meyer, 80 of Whiting, N.J. and Delray Beach, FL, formerly of Oyster Bay, N.Y. passed away Saturday, December 15, 2012 at home. Born in Bremen, Germany, he immigrated to the United States in 1955 and became a U.S. citizen.Heinz was a union electrical contractor, retiring in 1991 at the age of 59. He was a member of the IBEW Local 3 in New York for 51 years. He was a member of the Masonic Allemania Lodge Noble 9th for 43 years and a member of the Lakewood Maennerchor. He enjoyed golfing, boating, skiing, tennis, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Whiting.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Emma, one daughter, Deborah Meyer of New York City, one son, Harold and wife Ginny Meyer of Wayland, MA., and proud grandfather (Opa) of Tory and Jake. Also surviving are one brother, Erich Meyer of Bremen, Germany, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Peter and Enken Olufs of Fohr, Germany, and several nieces and grandnieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, December 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church, 40 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting, N.J. with entombment to follow at Whiting Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, N.J.
