Obituary of Katherine Karvelas
KATHERINE "Kay" KARVELAS nee PAPATSAKIS, 87, of Whiting, MANCHESTER, died Saturday, December 8, at Keswick Pines in Whiting, NJ. She was born in Lawrenceville, NJ and grew up in Bronx, NY. After her marriage, she resided in New Brunswick and North Brunswick, retiring to Whiting in 1989. She worked for Arnold Constable, Dow Jones & Company, New Brunswick High School and Hanover Insurance Company. She taught Sunday School and was a member of Saint George, PTO, Piscataway, NJ. She was active in Crestwood Village II, and enjoyed bowling, bocce, shuffleboard and trips to Atlantic City. Her endearing ways and enjoyment of life will be missed by all who knew her. Surviving are her devoted husband, Thomas of 57 years; three daughters and "sons", Andrea and Melvin Robertson of Mullica Hill, NJ; Marianthe and Billy Hadzimichalis of North Brunswick, NJ; Alyssa and Neil Marchesi of Hamilton Square, NJ; and eight grandchildren who were her pride and joy, William, Courtney, Lauren, Kyle, Katelyn, Jason, Jessica and Neil. A gathering to "celebrate her life" will be held Saturday, December 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, 386 Park Avenue South, 17th Floor, New York, NY 10016.
